There are open bay dormitories for housing. An older facility, it was built in 1913 and is situated on over 150 acres in New Mexico. Many inmates work at the Youth Diagnostic & Development Center performing tasks like janitorial duties, laundry service, and kitchen service, and these skills help prepare inmates to reenter society.

You can include photographs in the mail as long as they are 4”x6” or smaller in size and do not contain nudity or sexual images. You can arrange for books and magazines to be sent directly to the inmate from the publisher; do not send these items yourself as they will be rejected during intake at the Youth Diagnostic & Development Center. Assume that all mail will be inspected for contraband prior to delivery to the inmate.

Sending Money

The easiest way to send money is probably to end money to an inmate through JPay at a kiosk in the Youth Diagnostic & Development Center lobby. You can also send money to an inmate through Access Corrections online. Payment should be made by using a MasterCard or Visa debit. Phone calls

Most jails and prisons in New Mexico use the same system for inmate phone calls. While inmates at the Youth Diagnostic & Development Center cannot receive incoming calls, you can setup an account if you want to receive prepaid from your inmate.
