San Rafael City Jail serves to provide custody of prisoners awaiting trial. The San Rafael City Jail is located at 1400 Fifth Avenue, San Rafael, CA, 94901 in downtown San Rafael adjacent to the courthouse. The current San Rafael City Jail was opened in June, 1979, replacing an antiquated facility built in 1915 which was located on the top floor of the old courthouse.

The last option, the slowest option, is to send a money order via the mail. The money order should be made out to the San Rafael City Jail Inmate Fund. In the memo field, clearly print or type the name of the inmate. Never send cash through the mail.

Phone calls

Like many other jails, San Rafael City Jail uses Securus Technologies to facilitate phone calls with inmates. While inmates cannot receive calls, they can make phone calls. It’s best for family and friends to set up an account with Securus or call them for at 415-485-3000.

Visitation

The easiest way to visit an inmate at San Rafael City Jail is do so via video. Schedule an appointment, and you can do a video visit from the lobby of the jail.
