All mail must have a return address. All mail is processed through a central mail room and all non-legal mail is subject to inspection, which may delay delivery. No property will be accepted through the mail.
Remember though, most inmates are not at Kansas City City Jail long term, so the delay in the postal service with mail might mean your mail arrives after the inmate has been transferred to a different location.

Inmates can either call collect or use pre-paid phone cards. You can set up a pre-paid phone account for an inmate by calling Operator Services at 913-288-7636.
It might be better to wait until the inmate is transferred to his more long-term home before establishing a routine for phone calls.
Visitation
If it is a weekday, you should call ahead to ensure you can visit.
You can bring inmates medication if it is a current, valid prescription. If it is a prescription or medication that can wait a few days, it is advisable to wait until the inmate is set up at a longer-term jail before bringing prescription medication. However, if it is a prescription that is taken daily, you can bring the prescription during visiting hours to the inmate at Kansas City City Jail.
