Sending a Mail/Care Package
The important thing to remember when sending mail is that it will all be inspected by FCI Miami personnel. However, if you mark the outside of the mail “special,” prison staff can only open and inspect mail in the presence of the inmate at FCI Miami. So, the inmate will be aware if anything was taken out of the package or was considered contraband.

Sending Money
Inmates at FCI Miami rely on their commissary accounts for basic necessities and to make phone calls. It is easy to send money to an inmate, and there are a few different ways you can do it.
You can send money by Western Union if you have the inmate's eight digit register number with no spaces or dashes and the inmate's last name (example: 12345678DOE). To set up this account, call 305-259-2100 or set up an account on the website.
While you cannot send personal checks or cash in the mail, you can mail a money order. Include on the money order the inmate’s full name and eight digit register number.
Phone calls
Since inmates at FCI Miami cannot receive phone calls, they rely on calling outside to contact family and friends. The easiest way to help is by adding funds to their commissary accounts and asking them to put you on the list of people they can call.
