Sending Money
Do not send any money, checks, or money orders through the mail. Using a system called TouchPay, you can add money to an inmate’s commissary account. This will allow the inmate to purchase hygiene products and snacks. You can add money at the kiosk in the jail’s lobby, via phone at 510-464-7000, or online. Inmates can also use this money to set up their telephone account so they can make phone calls.
Phone calls
You can establish a telephone account for an inmate at Oakland City Jail. There is a system, which allows you to advance pay for inmate’s phone calls, so they will not have to call collect. An inmate can also pay for phone calls using his commissary account. Inmates are not allowed to receive incoming calls, so you should set up a plan for the inmate to call you.
Visitation
Schedule your visit ahead of time online. All visits should be set up online, and you can call 510-464-7000, if you need help setting up your online visitation request. You can visit online remotely for up to 10 minutes at a time, and can schedule anytime during these time slot: Tuesday through Sunday. You can also schedule a visit to occur in the lobby of the jail. These visits can be scheduled for between 2:00PM and 4:00PM on Tuesdays through Fridays.
