Tuscaloosa Jail serves to provide custody of prisoners awaiting trial. The Tuscaloosa Jail is located at 3801 Millcreek Avenue, Tuscaloosa, AL, 35401 in downtown Tuscaloosa adjacent to the courthouse. The current Tuscaloosa Jail was opened in June, 1979, replacing an antiquated facility built in 1915 which was located on the top floor of the old courthouse.

Another way to deposit money to an inmate is to visit a kiosk located in a lobby. Using the kiosk, you can allocate cash or a credit card transaction to credit an inmate’s account.

The last option, the slowest option, is to send a money order via the mail. The money order should be made out to the Tuscaloosa Jail Inmate Fund. In the memo field, clearly print or type the name of the inmate. Never send cash through the mail.

Phone calls

Like many other jails, Tuscaloosa Jail uses Securus Technologies to facilitate phone calls with inmates. While inmates cannot receive calls, they can make phone calls. It’s best for family and friends to set up an account with Securus or call them for at 205-349-2121.


The easiest way to visit an inmate at Tuscaloosa Jail is do so via video. Schedule an appointment, and you can do a video visit from the lobby of the jail.
